Engine Technician:
Assemble and disassemble prototype engines.
Requirements:
- Good working knowledge and experience in internal combustion engines.
- One of a kind engine building experience or assembly and disassembly of limited edition racing engines
- Attention to detail and observation skills to help explain engine performance.
Desirable:
- Diesel experience and knowledge
- Ability to use Excel
- Ability to use machine tools
Engine Test Engineer:
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with operating an engine test cell, working principles of dynamometer
- Familiarity with engine specific instrumentation and data acquisition systems
- Programming of data acquisition systems (preferably within the National Instrument framework)
- BA degree or higher with at least 2 years experience in this field
- Willingness to work flexible hours. Generally not required to work weekends
- Hands-on approach required: This may include installation/removal of engines from test cell, inspection of engine, trouble-shooting of instrumentation
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Diesel engine technology, Diesel after-treatment systems, engine management systems and calibration
- Experience with signal processing and data management, i.e., post-processing using Excel and VBA macros
- Evaluating and interpreting measurement data
- Engine build experience desirable
Cooling Systems Analyst:
The position will analyze, design and develop an efficient cooling system for the Achates Power engine.
Requirements:
- Experience in conjugate heat transfer analysis, CFD, and component and systems level bench testing
- Experience and understanding of liquid cooled systems
- Experience and familiarity with CAD software (Pro/E, Solidworks, Catia, etc.)
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree, advanced degree preferred
- 5 years minimum experience in this field
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience with internal combustion engine piston and cylinder cooling
- System-level design experience with pumps, seals, and temperature control
- Hands-on experience with systems-level models such as AmeSim and Fluidmaster
- Proven track record of correlating experimental data
- Experience with engine data acquisition (temperatures, pressures, flows, etc) and processing
